أَكْبَرُ [أَكْثَرُ] الشَّرِّ فِي الِاسْتِخْفَافِ بِمُولِمِ عِظَةِ الْمُشْفِقِ النَّاصِحِ وَالِاغْتِرَارِ بِحَلَاوَةِ ثَنَاءِ الْمَادِحِ الْكَاشِحِ
The greatest evil is in disparaging the painful advice of the compassionate, sincere adviser and being deceived by the sweetness of the flattery of the malicious praiser

كَيْفَ يَنْتَفِعُ بِالنَّصِيحَةِ مَنْ يَلْتَذُّ بِالْفَضِيحَةِ
How can one who takes pleasure in [acts that bring] disgrace benefit from sincere advice?!

لَمْ يُوَفَّقْ مَنِ اسْتَحْسَنَ الْقَبِيحَ وَأَعْرَضَ عَنْ قَوْلِ النَّصِيحِ
One who considers evil to be good and turns away from the words of the sincere adviser does not become successful

مَنْ عَصَى نَصِيحَهُ نَصَرَ ضِدَّهُ
One who disobeys his sincere adviser has assisted his adversary

مَنْ أَعْرَضَ عَنْ نَصِيحَةِ النَّاصِحِ أُحْرِقَ بِمَكِيدَةِ الْكَاشِحِ
One who shuns the advice of a sincere adviser is burnt by the evil schemes of the one who harbours enmity against him

مِنْ عَلَامَاتِ الْإِدْبَارِ سُوءُ الظَّنِّ بِالنَّصِيحِ
From the signs of turning backward is thinking ill of the one who gives you good advice

لَا تَرُدَّنَّ عَلَى النَّصِيحِ وَلَا تَسْتَغِشَّنَّ الْمُشِيرَ
Never reject the [advice of a] sincere adviser and never assume the one who counsels you to be a deceiver
